"A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand." -- Unknown

The concept of Creative Cookie, Etc. originated in 1979 during a casual conversation between two friends in Philadelphia who joked "Maybe you'll get a fortune cookie that says you'll marry a Jewish doctor!"

This one small sentence eventually led to the first "creative cookie" - the Jewish Fortune Cookie®. It was such a success that before long, Irish and Italian Fortune Cookies hit the market.

In April of 1999, the business was officially acquired by Joan & Marty Schwartz, whose savvy business sense, unshakable sense of humor and creative thinking has steadily increased the profits of the company. Under their direction, Creative Cookie has grown from a small, boutique business to a well-recognized player in both gift and specialty food industries. The company now offers more than 50 different fortune cookie themes for almost every holiday, special occasion, or event you could imagine.

In 2004, Joan and Marty acquired a second business, PurpleMoose Products, which produces small, themed and personalized cakes for all occasions. While some buyers were familiar with this brand, the products are now referred to as themed Celebration Cakes and represent an important part of Creative Cookie's entire line.

In support of this growth, Creative Cookie, Etc. has been working with a number of sheltered workshops throughout Maryland to support the packing and shipping of its products. These relationships, while good for business, also represent a significant contribution to the community.

Since the company's inception, Creative Cookie, Etc. has sold more than 40 million themed Fortune Cookies worldwide with the sales of its themed Celebration Cakes not far behind.
